Dear Dhiraj,
I am an avid reader of your blogs & passionate about hills.
We are a group of 3 families based in Gurgaon, working in IT sector & planning for a trip to Kaza Spiti in Jun 2nd week. We are in touch with Ranjeet Singh of Himalayan Monk through you and finalizing the plan. Though we have made self driven road trips earlier ( Nubrah to Pangyong via Shyok river bed ), it was beautiful & treacherous but  Kaza- Keylong  is supposedly even more bad. We have a Fortuner, Yeti & XuV 500 & hence seek your specific suggestions that we should keep in mind while traversing the terrain & what options/help we can get in the event we are stuck.
Thanks & Regards,
Pritam

Thank you Pritam, it is good to know that. Ranjeet is a nice guy and should be able to help you out with all the local connections.

Well, I see you have big cars so I do not see any problem you guys might be having in crossing those roads. The main problem is between Battal to Gramphu on Kaza – Manali road. The water crossings makes the life difficult there and yes, at time even the biggest of cars and trucks too get stuck in such nasty ones.

The main suggestion I can give you is that you must leave early in the day on that section to avoid more water in the water crossings. Rest I do not think roads will both you much in SUVs. Drive slow so that you do not puncture or cut your tires, a common issue of getting stuck is people drive fast and sharp stones just cuts or punctures the tires.
