Hey guys, i will be travelling to leh on 18th june with my cousin brother (both young) , we will be flying out from Delhi to leh, and our return date is 1st July from srinagar so i want to visit both leh and srinagar in this time period, i am thinking to divide number for days to half for each destination, as of now i haven’t booked any packages, i am confused that should i book a package or should i go personally, i want this trip to be on low budget as possible, so should i book a package or go personally? Will i get good guest house in a good budget at that time ( i have gone through your post for budget accommodation in leh and found it ver helpful, so thank you for that, i even talked to atisha Guest house owner and he told me that tarrif during june will be around 1000-1200 which is ok) and will i be able to get share taxis to nubra and pangong at that time? I have gone through some tour operators and the lowest budget which i got from one is 72500 for two, including accommodation in basic guest house , transfers (from leh to srinagar is not included as i can manage it on my own, so i have told them to cut that part to save good amount of money) meals on MAP basis, so is this a good budget package or can i do better than this with going directly? Or can i find local operators in leh who manage group tours?
Pardon me for such a long list of questions.
I will be kindly waiting to hear soon from you guys
Thank you very much.
Well, you can get all the info you need on this website to successfully make your trip to Ladakh without anyone else involved or going through a tour agent. You are alone/couple and private taxis are very costly in Leh but you will be able to find the shared taxi without much fuss at all. There are lots of flyers which people put at cafes, dine-ins, restaurants, travel agent desks/shops/whiteboards wanting to share the taxis for different trips within Ladakh. Even travel agent organize such shared taxis trip as well but charge a little higher about Rs 200-300 more than it would ideally cost. So, in the worst case, you can always go back to them and book a seat for yourself. Gelling up with people in Ladakh is more or less easy because many people travel solo and look forward to meeting new people and share cultural thoughts and values over the trip.
So rest for first two days and find shared taxis in Leh. May be book Atisha or Kidar for first few days in Leh and now there is a bus service as well that runs from airport to Leh town.
Then do 2-3 days Nubra Valley tour, then 2 day Pangong Tso, then take the shared taxi to Kargil and further to Srinagar. As you have ample of time at hand, you will be able to get the shared taxis
