Hi Rajesh,

If you will do in the opposite direction, that is to start from Srinagar and end in Shimla via Ladakh and Spiti then, in that case, it will be much better because the road from Kaza to Manali – Keylong will be open by the time you reach there on that route. However, in case you plan to travel this route from Shimla side in first week of June, the road from Manali – Kaza/Keylong will not be open.

Hi Mr Dheeraj,
i have recently started reading your blogs on himalayan travelling and really appreciate your work and guidance.
Since long time i was dreaming to travel Ladhakh and spity valley.i am thinking on below itinerary for a solo road trip by Duster 4×4 and I need your guidance.i am bit confused about duration of my trip as it seems long journey.i have no idea about Killar-Kishtwar-Srinagar route,is it safe for solo driver.i am ready to skip this route (chamba-killar-kishtwar-srinagar) if not suitable.
I know, i have to cut some portion of journey then suggest me which one ? I am also planning for  Baltal – Amarnath yatra (if possible) which may take two extra days.
here is the rough itinerary and i want to make it within 20 days….

Day 14 Leh to Hemis monastry-Pangong tso lake
Day 15 Pangong tso lake to Thicksey  monastry-Shey palace-Leh
Day 16 Leh to Tso moriri via chumthang
Day 17 Tso moriri to Tso kar-Debring-Sarchu
Day 18 Sarchu to Chhatru (suggest any other good place for night halt)
day 19 Chhatru to chandratal (want to do solo camping if possible at chandratal)
Day 20 Chandratal to Nako/pooh (suggest any other good place for night halt)
Day 21 Nako/pooh to Jaon village (near nirmand,Rampur)

i am planning this trip between  23 june to 15 july (24 days maximum).please suggest me to make it a successful trip.

No Rajesh, that road connecting Padum to Darcha is under construction and the road only goes up to Shinku La from Darcha side.

You can stay at Tabo, Nako, Kalpa, Sangla/Chitkul, Sarahan, Narkanda on the way to Shimla from Kaza.

Well, the road from Kaza to Keylong over Kunzum Pass is expected to open by mid of June. So, you might find the road closed when you travel from Kaza side. Postpone the trip by about a week.
