First of all thanks, this is my 2nd trip to Ladakh. My first trip was super successful only because of this website. I am travelling with my husband.
This is my plan which is almost from your common itinerary (13-21 Sept 18)
Day 1 : Mumbai to Srinagar flight. Will reach by 8.30 AM. Stay at Srinagar with local sightseeing if possible.
Day 2: Srinagar – Sonamarg – Zozi La – Drass – Kargil , overnight Kargil
Day 3: Kargil – Lamayuru – Leh , overnight Leh
Day 4: Leh – Khardung La – Diskit – Hunder , overnight at Hunder
Day 5: Diskit – Pangong Tso Lake , overnight at Pangong
Day 6: Pangong Tso Lake – Thicksey Monastery – Shey Palace – Leh
Day 7: Rest Day at Leh/White water rafting at Nimmo
Day 8: Buffer day
Day 9: Flight to Mumbai
I have two questions
- Can we start for Diskit on 2nd day of reaching Leh i.e.Day 4. Or we should take rest for whole day.
- We have almost 2 days in hand, can we include any place (we have already seen Tso Moriri) can we fit in Hanle or Turtuk in between.
I will highly recommend to have that day as rest day, acclimatize and take inner line permits.
You should use the extra day to visit Turtuk in Nubra Valley. Add one more day in Nubra and spend night at Turtuk
Thanks Dhiraj for prompt reply.
If we take full day rest on 4th day then we will have only 1 day spare.
1.Can we go for river rafting at Nimmo. Is it necessary to book river rafting in advance?
2.Also I think we doesn’t need inner line permit for above itinerary. Please confirm.
Yes, use that 1 spare day at Turtuk. You can go to Rafting after coming from Pangong Tso as well. Starting 2017, everyone needs Inner Line permits again now including Indians to visit Nubra Valley, Pangong Tso and Tso Moriri.
I am sure we will get inner line permit in a day.
Yes, you will be able to get the inner line permit from DC office in couple of hrs. So, use the first rest day in Leh for it.
