Solo Girl Trip to Kalpa

Mayuri asked 2 weeks ago

Hie Team,
I’m planning to go Kalpa coming Feb (3rd to 9th). As cliche as it may sound but I do have some concerns regarding to safety in Kalpa being a girl (aged: 30). Being to Himachal, couple of time and I know it’s safe yet though of asking a second opinion. Also I have never done a solo trip before. Below is the itinerary, please advise if it’s good and safe time of the year to pull this off.

Day 1 | Delhi – Shimla / Narkanda
Day 2 | Shimla / Narkanda – Sarahan
Day 3 | Sarahan – Kalpa

Day 4 | Rest at Kalpa
Day 5 | Rest at Kalpa

Day 6 | Kalpa – Chail

Day 7 | Chail to Delhi

I’m to book hotels and I will be mostly travelling via state bus as I don’t have personal transportation. And I intend to spend three days in Kalpa and enjoy one place at a time rather than go to two different places. Hence 3 days in Kalpa. 🙂

Awaiting your reply.

Thank,
Mayuri.

Hi Mayuri, your plan is nicely balanced. I should be fine to travel to Kalpa and yes Himachal as you know is pretty safe. However, having said that, you always have to follow the regular solo traveller precautions that you will follow anywhere while traveling in India 🙂

Hie Dheeraj, thank you so much for your input. But I have two things to ask. 1. Is that time ok to travel weather wise? Not sure if heavy snow and road blockage condition. 2. Also, will state buses ploy during this time regularly? Thanks again for your help.

Hey Mayuri,

The time is winter and you will find snowfall/snow in Kinnaur Valley. If there is heavy snowfall at the time of your visit, the roads may close for a couple of days. So be prepared for it.

State buses keep running during winters too in Kinnaur except on the blocked routes like Chitkul
