good morning Mr Dheeraj, Planning self drive to kalpa and sangla chitkul. i am having Tata Safari 2 wd.
have driven 4 times to manali, also to kausani and Auli in Uttarakhand. will this route be more difficult?
Youtube videos show roads are very narrow……no place to stop on side in case any vehicle comes from opposite side. Pl Guide
Well, to be frank the roads in videos looks scary and at time they indeed are scary but there is always a spice in the video to increase the TRP 😀
No way I am saying it is same as Auli, Manali or Kausani which are just hill roads whereas in Kinnaur Valley you will find narrow, slushy roads too. However, if you are careful and have good driving experience to know the area of your car and good judgment, well, in that case with high GC vehicle you should be just fine as long as you are cautious and careful and does not do anything insane.
Thank you very much….Will keep posted
Sir, my probably foolish query…..Will there be place on side or shoulder of road to allow big vehicles like bus to pass
I have done many 1000 KMs in the Himalayas by now and there were some occasions, where I had to reverse only. But being cautious, careful and aware helps you always see the other vehicle coming and park your car at a point where there is space either a shoulder or near the mountain face to let the other bigger vehicle pass. So, be aware and alert and have patience in case of doubt and park aside to let other vehicle pass by wherever you feel comfortable spot exist. Rarely will be the case where you will need to reverse to find that spot.
This is what I was planning. Honking, if some big vehicle coming wait, let pass and proceed
Thanks a lot sir
