I read your blog and went through your site and was pretty impressed.Though I did go through your link related to “Tirthan Valley” still i would need your guidance.
I am a resident of Gurgaon and love to travel by road.So far we have always planned our own itinerary (thanks to google)for all our road trips but this time I will appreciate if you can help me in making one.
our last road trip was to ranikhet, kausani and binsar and we stayed for 3N,3N and 2N.
For the month of mid June we are planning for yet another exciting and adventurous road trip.
We are a group of 4 adults and 3kids (age 10,10 and 13) and we are planning to explore “Tirthan Valley” and have approx 7-8 nights in hand so please suggest what all places can be clubbed with Tirthan valley. We would like to stay at each place for minimum 2-3 nights. We would prefer Off-beat places only.
looking forward to your response 🙂
Thanks in advance
In such a case, I will suggest you do the following itinerary:
Day 1 | Delhi – Tirthan Valley (long drive but try to make it)
Day 2, 3, 4 | Stay in Tirthan Valley and explore around. Rest besides river, hike in Great Himalayan National Park.
Day 5 | Drive to Shoja near Jalori Pass and stay either at Shoja or Jibhi.
Day 6 | Spend night at Shoja or Jibhi
Day 7 | Drive over Jalori Pass to Narkanda and stay overnight at Narkanda
Day 8 | Drive back home
Day 5 | Drive to Barot from Tirthan Valley and stay at Barot.
Day 6 | Spend night at Barot
Day 7 | Drive to Bir – Biling and do paragliding and stay overnight nearby if interested, else drive over to Palampur for night stay
Day 8 | Drive back home
Thanks a heap Dheeraj for your prompt reply…I really liked both options provided by you and would soon finalise one of them.I have a doubt that while booking Tirthan Valley (through airbnb) its showing me three options under Tirthan valley – Nagini,Banjar and Pekhri
so which one should i prefer?
thanks in advance
Well, you should try booking by calling the local hotels directly. Did you check with raju Bharti?? If not check: http://devilonwheels.com/raju-s-cottage-goshaini-tirthan-valley/
Gushaini, Nagini, Deori are the main villages in Tirthan, Banjar is close to Tirthan and bit of a crowded town. The other one I don’t know.
Thank you so much for all your responses as it has really given me a clear picture to plan our holiday. My husband and I loved the property suggested by you at Tirthan (Rajus house). We will be making our bookings in another 1week time.We have zeroed down the third week of June for our trip wherein we will stay at Tirthan for 4nights and then 2nights at either shoja or Jibhi and final 2nights at someplace on our way back from jibhi to Gurgaon.I would need couple of suggestions from you.Just a reminder that we will be 4adults and 3kids (age 10,10 and 13).
Suggestion1-Please suggest a nice local property at either Shoja or Jibhi.I would prefer river side one.
Suggestion 2-please suggest a place to stop for 2nights on our way back to gurgaon as Narkanda still would be a long drive. Is there a place after Narkanda (towards Gurgaon) wherein we can stop for 2nights (some nice scenic place)?
Last and final question 🙂 do you also plan or organise such trips in a group wherein we can join too?
Thanks a heap for your help as it really made my planning easy and smooth.
Please find my replies inline (BTW, Raju Bharti Cottage is mostly booked for seasons, you need to check with him in case if it is available at all)
1. You can check with Ranjeet at firstname.lastname@example.org, who runs Latoda Hut and couple of other properties in the Jibhi region.
2. If you have not been to Chail, you can break the journey at Chail.
3. Sorry, we do not plan or conduct any tours and purely information sharing website. You may find some names similar to us or same as us providing packages but they all are mere copycats and use our brand name for their own commercial benefit and fool/misguide the tourists. We do not have anything to do with such people.
You are most welcome 🙂 … Best wishes for the trip, feel free to post any further questions you may have for your trip. And in case you would like to share your journey as a trip log to a wider audience at Devil On Wheels website, feel free to post your travel tale at the link: Share Your Travel Story
Here I come again with another query as I had thought that I am all sorted with my holiday plan but when one plans something in India then one should always remember that “We guys are highly populated country” so nothing will come easy our way.Uffff! how can resorts be booked 3months in advance !!!
Anyway ,Please help me as I called Raju bharti guest house and spoke to Karan and u were right its FULL.my dates were not available as I was targeting 4nights at Tirthan (Chkin-16th June,Chkout-20th June) 🙁
I really liked that property 🙁
can you please suggest some other local property/resort at Tirthan Valley which is equally good ??
Also I have marked an email to Ranjeet for my Latodahut query.Hopefully i get the booking at Jibhi (2 nights 20thjune-22nd June).I am awaiting for his response.
I really liked your Chail suggestion as it will make journey easy back home for kids.thanks for that.
I am so embarrassed asking so many questions from you but can u also please suggest a good place to stay at Chail.Though it would be only for 1 night.
our travel dates are 16june – 23 june
Though I am not a writer or good at writing but I I would surely try and write about my travel experience on the link mentioned by you.
Thanks a Ton Dheeraj
No worries Monica, feel free to ask any questions that’s why this site exist 🙂
1. Regarding stays in Tirthan, well, The Himalayan Trout House and River Side Resort are two next options that come to my mind.
2. In Chail, go with Chail Palace if budget is not much of a problem. It is beautifully located and very nice else better to book on the spot if you plan for just overnight stopover place.
PS: Raju Bharti is a pioneer and usually remains booked for seasons, so, it is usual.
