Hi Dheeraj,
We are a couple travelling to ladakh in mid-August. We wish to take the srinagar-leh route to reach leh and leh-manali route on return journey. We have our flight bookings made for Mumbai-Srinagar  and Delhi-Mumbai. Could you please throw some light on the best possible itinerary that could fit in our timeline and the cheapest means of transport available? With so many blogs on the internet, we are clueless on how to start on fixing the itinerary. Thanks in advance. Love the way you encourage people like us to travel and explore these places.

Hi,
We are a couple also having same plan. I am having plan from Leh. But my return was from Sri Nagar. Now everyone advising not to return through Srinagar. Then only one option left I have to return through Manali. Chandigarh. My plan starts from 16th August in leh. We have contacted Rigzin Dada. He has also advised us not to return through Srinagar. So now we are leaving the plans for Zanskar and concentrating on Leh.

Dhiraj Will this work out please tell.

14th August – Reach Leh in Morning Flight
15th August – Stay at leh
16th August – Turtuk
17th August – Nubra Valley or Turtuk
18th August – Sumur or Nubra Valley visiting Panamik
19th August – Leh( Doing The ILP)
20th August – Pangong ( I believe Enough acclimatization for staying in Pangong)
21th August – Hanle
22nd August – Hanle
23rd August – Tso Moriri and tso kar( I am in Doubt Tso kar can be covered or not.)
24th August – keylong or in Between where you suggest
25th August – Manali. In Evening Have a Bus to Chandigarh Or stay at Manali
26th August – Flight To kolkata. or Take a Bus to Chandigarh then back on 27th Sunday.

Transport we will be travelling with Rigzin. We are only 2 person.

For Nubra Valley as well you will need the ILP. The plan will work and is relaxed pretty much. Better stay at Tso Kar in case you want to reach Jispa or Keylong the next day. Also, Sumur Panamik can be skipped.

19: Back to Leh from Nubra Valley
20: Leh – Pangong Tso
21: PAngong Tso – Leh

Weather should be good. ILP is Inner Line Permit. I believe if you travel Hanle or Border Area like Turtuk you require that. And that can be obtained from Leh as per my knowledge goes. My previous plan was to visit ZANSKAR Valley and return through Srinagar. Due to current unrest in Srinagar we changed our plan. And now we have tickets from Chandigarh on 27th. Flight fare from Chandigarh is little bit cheap and just one night journey from Manali where our car will drop.

Folks, starting this year you all need inner line permit for traveling to Nubra Valley, Pangong Tso and Tso Moriri again. It stopped for a couple of years in between but have been re-introduced. So, it is not just border areas but all sightseeing in Ladakh require inner line permit.
