I am thinking to plan for a 10 days to 2 week trip to spiti alone(As all of em who said they would come dropped) and I do not want to miss this trip so thinking to give it a try on my KTM. I have brought some travel itinerary like camping tent, sleeping bag. Can I complete the whole circuit(Delhi-Manali-Kaza-Shimla-Delhi) if I start on 18th october. And Please suggest me if I can camp with my sleeping bag as there will be freezing cold temparature (I.e.-17 when I checked Accuweather).
Please help me.
I’m too planning a Spiti trip alone as of now
My own bike
I’m from Chandigarh
My route however is Chnd – Shimla – Spiti – n then Via Manali if road is open else bk via Shimla
If we can tag along, kindly email me at email@example.com
I’m planning from 07/08 oct to 15 oct as per current planning
Veda, it will surely be some risk associated with your trip. The camping will be really difficult in case you are not used to such cold conditions. It will be freezing plus cold winds make it even worse. You are crossing Manali to Kaza first, so that is great. I will suggest of not stopping between Manali and Kaza. Leave Manali early, spend a couple of hrs at Chandratal and reach Kaza that very day. Then roam around Kaza and nearby villages.
Thank you for your quick response Dheeraj. I hope the Rohtang pass will be open during that period. I do have a doubt about the rohtang pass permit which I can see is open for the next week. Is it mandatory to travel on that particular day or does it have any buffer time. If I pay online what is the procedure to follow and do I need to wait there for the permit?
Vyas, permit is online
take the print out and thats it.
It has all the details on it, like ur vehiclle number, your name, your ID details which u will show when you pass.
No it does not have any buffer.
it is issued for a particular day and expires post that.
Geet has provided an apt answer. Best wishes to both of you for your trips !!
