  • Back Home :)….

Above is an itinerary covering most places in Leh – Ladakh and Zanskar Valley. I guess its a first draft for Sudhir Kochhar who wants to do it the entire Ladakh and Zanskar Valley in his Skoda Yeti 4×4… Since, it needed special space being such vast I thought of creating post of it.

Sudhir posted his intent and his base itinerary in the comments of the article: How to plan a journey on Manali – Leh Highway . I hope Sudhir, this is the right place to discuss and spare the Manali – Leh Highway as is. This will help me better organize the information on the blog. We can discuss further on this post to fine tune it best to your needs.

    1) Do you find this itinerary good?
    2) Can we start our journey from opposite direction means from Manali side to Leh to Srinagar considering some faces of health(AMS) altitude issues. is it suggestive from your side??
    3) Can we skip tso moriri over pangong lake as they both are same type of lake??
    4) If you have any other suggestions for places that we should add or remove from itinerary
    waiting for your response
    thanks mayur

    • Hello Mayur,

Well, are you still looking for reply on this one?

      70-80 😯 ?? Seriously man !! 🙂 🙂 …

You should get this tour arrenged by some tour operator and above all your plan will land up few folks in hospital as it does not take care of acclimatization.

    • Hi Anil,

Your plan is a bit ambitious I will say for first four days but doable if you OK with long drives. Instead of Sumur in Nubra better go over for a trip to Turtuk. all the details about the direct routes of Pangong Tso to Tso Moriri and Nubra to Pangong Tso along with tips and risks which they pose are detailed under the articles:

Tips for Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso Direct Route AND Tips for Pangong Tso to Tso Moriri Direct Route

Please read these articles and based on the details/risks highlighted, take a go-no-go decision.

I will not suggest taking a swift on Pangong Tso to Tso Moriri route as it might get stuck under sand with just a single lapse in concentration.

  3. I am planning to visit the Zanskar from 15th Sep to 30 Sep.

I want few information about Zanskar.

  4. Hi Dheeraj,

    1. How to go Zanskar from Leh or Srinagar(I will reach Srinagar on 15th Aug)
    2. Which is best route from Leh or Srinagar to reah Zanskar
    3. Where to stay(budget guest house) in route.
    4. can I get shared taxi or J&K buses to visit Zanskar
    5. Planning to go Leh also If I can visit zanskar from Srinager to Leh, Which route is best
    6. What is price rate for Buses or shared taxi and where can I get it

    Please advise me

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Hi Dheeraj,

Can you suggest hotels / guest houses to stay in rangdum and padum? We are there for a night each.
We are unable to call up any of the hotels from here.
Would it be advisable to reach leh and call them for accommodation? Is there any other way you think we can go about it? (approximate dates of stay are 21 st and 22nd aug.)

    Thanks,
    Manasi

    • Hello Manasi,

For Padum, check Hotel Marq and contact Mr. Aziz @ +919418002171/+919419219327 / +91-1983-245223/245071. He might be able to help you even with bookings for Rangdum. Rangdum does have a JK Tourism bungalow but that is booked from Kargil. So, please check with hotel Marq, if those guys can help you with Rangdum as well.

I hope this helps. Let me know incase you need more info. or have any queries or doubts.

      Regards
      Dheeraj Sharma
