I have done the extensive research myself on Srinagar-Leh-Manali (not on Spiti). I haven't been to the places but I can recommend this as per the research.

22nd Day 7 |Srinagar
--->
22nd Day 7 | Srinagar - Gulmarg - Srinagar (Enjoy Gondola ride)

28th Day 13 | Leh – Hemis – Pangong Tso
---->
28th Day 13 | Leh – Hemis – Thicksey – Shey Palace – Pangong Tso (Thicksey - Shey are on the same route of Hemis so can be covered here)

29th Day 14 | Pangong Tso – Thicksey – Shey Palace – Leh
30th Day 15 |Leh
31st Day 16 | Leh – Tso Moriri via Chumathang
---->
29th Day 14 | Pangong Tso (Spangmik) - Chulsul - Tso Morir (1. It will save time. 2. Don't have to go back via the same route. 3. This route is recommended but permits are required.)

OR
---->
29th Day 14 | Pangong Tso (Spangmik) - Chulsul - Hanle (permit required)
30th Day 15 | Hanle - Loma - Mahe - Tso Moriri OR Hanle - Chumur (permit required) - Tso Moriri

Hanle seems to be a good place to visit in Leh.
You can also add a rating of 2/3 hours (one day) while on Leh.

Hi Ginwhc, welcome to DoW forums.

Regarding your Qs,
i) Walk-in basic accommodation is available
ii) Lots of places actually. You're visiting a lot of places in a short duration. I'd advise you to keep your agenda light and enjoy the trip as it progresses. Also, you should keep some spare days considering you'll be using shared transport a lot.

I think B + C is better. Based on your experience of Ladakh and Spiti, you can decide to proceed to Dharamshala or drop it altogether.
Thank us by thanking yourself.

@Ginwhc - you seem to have a lot of days, and I see that Hanle and Turtuk are not included in your itinerary in Ladakh section. Please see if you can accommodate that. For some sections of Ladakh, you'll need to share a taxi as public transport is not that frequent / existent

For Spiti, head straight from Sarchu to Keylong towards Batal and Kaza - no need to come up to Rohtang and Manali (since again you have to cross rohtang if you come to Manali).

After your Spiti, head from Sarahan to manali via the Jalori Pass. After Manali you can head to Dharamsala from there. From Dharamsala, head to Amritsar via Pathankot if you feel like, and take an overnight train from there to Delhi.

It all depends on how many days you can spare ;)
