Permits for zanskar valley

Hi Dheeraj, I plan to go to zanskar valley in June. I m solo. Will take tent, sleeping bags etc. Do I need any permits for zanskar valley. If yes are the permits available from dras, since I plan to go directly from dras over umba la to rangdum

No permits are required for Zanskar Valley !!

Umba La route is not regular and used by anyone. Please be very careful in taking such desolated routes alone even if you are an expert in traveling to these regions.

It must be desolated like pangong to chushul Nd then to tsaga la.

Yes, it would be and has limited public​ transport options from kargil so plan accordingly.

AFAIK,, this will be more desolated than that route because that route is frequented by travellers now.

Oh definitely I take care and ready to turn back at any stage. Consulting with a lot of local people etc. Dheeraj Bhai about what time that road is available, a slight hint or idea

last I heard, it should be ready this season.. Best would be some guest houses in Padum who can give you the latest info..
