Postby Natty » Sun Mar 19, 2017 9:15 am

Hey guys,

We are a couple from Thailand and we will fly to Leh on April 8. We have planned the trip cover our bucket lists in only 6 days because on April 13 we have to fly back to Delhi.
Could you please suggest the best plan for us ?and this is our first time in Leh. :P

Which one is better?

Plan 1

Day 1 Arrival Leh Airport
Check in at Sia-la guesthouse
Shanti Stupa - Leh Market in the evening

Day 2 Leh - Lamayuru - Liker - Alchi

Day 3 Leh – Khardungla Pass – Deskit – Hunder (Nubra Valley)
overnight at Hotel grand nubra, Deskit

Day 4 Deskit-Pangong Lake via Warila or Shyok - come back to Leh (changla pass)

Day 5 Leh- Tsomoriri - Leh (one day trip)

Day 6 Leh Airport Drop

.........................................................................

Plan 2

Day 1 Arrival Leh Airport
Check in at Sia-la guesthouse
Shanti Stupa - Leh Market in the evening

Day 2 Leh - Lamayuru - Liker - Alchi

Day 3 Leh – Khardungla Pass – Deskit – Hunder (Nubra Valley)
overnight at Hotel grand nubra, Deskit

Day 4 Deskit-Pangong Lake via Warila or Shyok - heading to Tsomorori
(Where can I stop for overnight on the way from Pangong to Tsomoriri??)

Day 5 Tsomoriri - Leh

Day 6 Leh Airport Drop

And one more question, can you recommend for english speaking driver for us?
We try to contact more than 6-7 drivers in your list by text to them via Whatapps but the problem is they can not reply or understand our request in english.

However, English is not my mother tongue; please excuse any errors on my part.

Thank you so much for your help
Will looking forward to hear from you soon :)

Welcome to DoW Community !! :) :)

I will suggest you do following:

Day 1 | Leh Rest and acclimatization
Day 2 | Sham Valley Tour, dont exert much
Day 3 | Leh - Nubra
Day 4 | Nubra - Leh
Day 5 | Pangong Tso Day trip as it will be cold
Day 6 | Rest of fly back

It will be difficult, Did you search for english reference with driver profiles in the list of drivers

Please get your PAP (Protected Area Permit) the first day you land in Leh as I see you have not factored time for that

Natty,
You itinerary is completely unrealistic.
How can you go to Tso Moriri in one day? You need 3 days just for that.
Even a day-trip to Pangong lake is a bad idea, you should at least spend a night there if you don't want to spend all your time in the car.
For Sham, it can be done ine one day if you go up to Alchi. But I would also recommend to take 2 days if you want to go all the way to Lamayuru.
You should have a closer look at map and distances:
