DoW Cause | GYAAN 500 in action at Lalung, Spiti Valley

Postby dheerajsharma14 » Mon Jun 30, 2014 9:14 am

After following up our major cause in Kibber, me and Sany went to Lalung Village in Lingti Valley next day. It was wonderful experience again up there though the weather today was quite cold due to cloud cover all around. The road to lalung was a bit pain midst through snow cut curves and some magical views which due to weather camera had tough fight capturing them as all whiteness was around, in the sky as well as on the floor

However, this did not let our spirits down at all. We continued and our taxi guy Chewwang did not make us realize the pain of the roads at all. After reaching Rama Village, we met a guy who wanted lift till Lalung as he was carrying some stuff for the very famous & important Lalung Monastery in Spiti and he was a resident there. We asked him about the school but he said they have been closed now as the exams are running. But, we insisted him further and he found a house where small kids were present much similar to the one in Kibber we had last day. However, teacher was missing from the scene :( :(

We all started calling small children from the entire village and soon there were about 45+ children up there and now we were worried of shortage of material

However, it went quite well as we managed them quite well and handed over all the remaining stationary that was remaining with us. The local guy and Chewwang was the savior again, helped, organized and got them over to this house from the entire Lalung village in just a matter of minutes... With so many kids around, it was a special warm feeling inside seeing those smiles every where during the event and post event throughout the village wherever we walked. So, many people offered us invite to be there at their home but we humbly declined. It is this attachment to the local community that always lacked when I used to travel without connecting with locals, without contributing my bit to locals but past 3 years have been very fulfilling in spreading smiles all over Himalayas and with the launch of this little community of ours, where all Himalayan lovers are contributing to these locals as their own bits, I am sure many people like us must be going through the similar feelings by seeing such smiles around them on these little kids faces and shines in their eyes as they feel motivated too by such acts of good deeds.

Special thanks to them in the absence of teacher. Me and Sany realized, it is not that difficult even in the absence of people as for the good cause, there is no dearth of local people who can help you out in executing these noble causes and spreading these smiles up there in local villages of Spiti Valley

After the event, the local guy warmly invited us up at his home where his family was staying. He had very cute kids and man, the house made up in traditional manner forced us to remove our jackets as it was so warm. The little girls were quite shy :) :) ... But, overall it was extremely great experience and the kind of hospitality you get from such people is in remote villages of Himalayas is priceless and nothing can be compared there.

Thank you Dheeraj for bringing this up, this day of causes was the most special. We were looking to find kids in the village and suddenly they started coming from every bylane in abundance ....1-2-3-....n there was just no end of smiles and laughter coming from all around. We were bit worried that the material may fall short but where there is a will there is a way.

We divided the distribution according to age to accommodate each and every kid.....It was like...like....the journey through all that troubled non-existent roads suddenly found its meaning. It was like we were here for purpose, we were here to find happiness inside us.

Some of the memories i brought back with my self from that trip
