Hi guys,

We were planning to take bikes from Manali to Leh. But because of this bike union issue we have decided to travel till Leh in HRTC bus and then take bike from Leh.

1. I would like to know if we need to take passes for Rohtang Pass if we are travelling in bus
2. We have appplied for permit in Leh from http://www.lahdclehpermit.in/ and have taken print out we got from there. What exactly needs to be done at Leh to get the permits?

Thanks in advance

Tourist can not go directly to the DC office for Permits. They must use a travel agent to do the permits for them.

HI,

M planning a solo travel to leh from manali on mid august. Can you please update on the union problem regarding rental from HP. If still exists, will it be advisable to bring my own vehicle which is of Tamil Nadu registration ? Please suggest

No Rohtang Pass permit needed if you are traveling by local transport.

You can go to DC Office or Tourist Info Center at LEh and pay the fee to get the permits stamped.

That is only applicable for Foreigners for Protected Area Permit

It will continue to exist but the personal bikes should be fine.

any change in condition for the Manali bikes for using in Leh? We are starting our journey from Manali on 22nd. We already booked bikes from Manali for 10 days.. We are planning to take that bike to Leh and then to Kargil and back. We will be taking a Leh bike or a taxi to Pangong. What do you guyz think? Do we have to change our plans in the last minute?

Thanks,
Sreeraj

No change in the situation. You should cancel the bike booking and ask for full refund.
