Postby soumen230213 » Wed Feb 10, 2016 5:52 pm

ABOUT

Dzongkha, the national language of Bhutan literally means the language (kha) spoken in the fortresses (Dzong). So it's no surprise that Bhutan is known as the "Land of Fortresses and Monasteries". Earlier, the official name of Bhutan used to be Dru U, meaning country of the Drukpa Lineage who were also known as the Dragon people and hence Bhutan is referred to as "The Land of Thunder Dragon" The Kingdom of Bhutan is a Constitutional Monarchy since the year 2008 before which it used to be an Absolute Monarchy. It is bordered by Sikkim, West Bengal, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in the West, South and East and China in the North. The topography of Bhutan ranges from sub-alpine mountains and valleys to subtropical plains. Bhutan is one of the last countries to introduce television. It was only in 1999, that the Kingdom lifted the ban on television and internet. The Royal Bhutan Army is trained by the Indian Army and it has no Navy or Air Force and depends on Eastern Air Command of Indian Air Force for any kind of Air assistance.

On the Tourism front, Bhutan is the latest hot spot for international tourists. In 2014 alone, Bhutan received 1,33,480 international tourists. Though there are no UNESCO heritage sites in Bhutan, the Mask Dance of Bhutan is registered on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. The landscapes here offers the most amazing views for the tourists along with the countless Dzongs and monasteries. Bhutan is also home to some of the most amazing, rare and globally threatened species of wildlife. One can engage in different sorts of adventure activities like kayaking, cycling, archery, horse riding, trekking etc.

Hello Everyone,

For those who are planing to Ride out on 2 Wheels: came across few options - thought of keeping you all posted:

http://www.longwalks.in
http://www.darjeelingbikes.com/
http://www.adventuresunlimited.in/

I have dropped queries to 2 of them - 350 Classic can be rent out @ INR 1500 - 2000 per day; looks like they have limited inventory. I ll let you know if I get more details about anything related to Bike Renting.

Peingk Peingk :P :P :P
