River Side Resort, Tirthan Valley | Hotel Review
If you are looking for solitude, peace, calmness, break from the hustle-bustle, chit-chats, bonfires, nature walks etc I bet Tirthan Valley, besides ever serene Trithan River, could do wonders for you in such a call. However, there are not many options of stay / accommodation in this secluded part of Himachal Pradesh named Tirthan Valley. Hence, you need some planning before you hit the road especially if you are with family. One of those scarce stay option, is the pioneer of all guest houses of Himachal Pradesh (in fact India), famous by the name "Raju Bharti Guest House". Despite of being so popular for a long time, this fantastic home stay offers the quality it is famous for. But, with quality comes the price and Rs 2500-3000 per couple / per day (includes all meals + juices + fruits) is although moderate but slightly on higher side. Along with the price comes the limited booking and Raju’s guest house is booked for long periods. Hence, you need to beat the long queues of avid adventurous travelers to book this home stay option.
Another recently introduced option of stay in Tirthan Valley is the “River Side Resort”. The place is new but is getting too much popularity because of its flexible policies (which I really appreciate) and affordable prices offered for a comfortable stay tossed with tasty food. During our visit (which is always unplanned
) to Tirthan Valley, we stayed in the River Side Resort. I must appreciate the offerings of that place with the efforts of Mr. Bhupinder Singh + Team and I hope they maintain quality with these policies and prices only.

Bookings:
Booking can be done by calling at one of these numbers
- New Delhi – 9810008808,9810093925 (Anirudh Thakur)
- Tirthan Valley, Himachal Pradesh – 9816077756 (Mr. Bhupinder Singh / Prakash)
You can also check the web site at http://www.tirthanvalley.co.in/
It’s always better to call on Tirthan Valley number if you are nearby it or had changes in your itinerary and have an unscheduled / unplanned visit, just as we did
Price:
They offered us Rs 700 for a room which had one double-bed and Rs 1000 for a room which had two double beds (note that second double bed actually is drag-able sofa cum bed). Apart from the room rent you are charged Rs 350 for non-vegetarian meals and Rs 300 for vegetarian meals. It includes Welcome Drink + One Tea/Coffee + All three meals (vegetarian / non- vegetarian based on the preference) for a day and yes of course, all Taxes as well
. Vegetarian meals include eggs
…
The best part of the resort which me and my other friends to whom we recommended that place liked was their policies. I hope they keep them up and running forever without any greed for money. These were…
- You can check-in any time you like and everything including the meals will be counted for 24 Hr from the time you checked-in. So there is no 12-noon check-out policy which is great.
- Another great flexibility was that there is no limit for number of people staying in one room, as long as it is comfortable for you. So, you can have as many friends as you like and share the expenses, there by reducing the cost by much more.
Location:
If you are coming from the Aut – Larji side, you shall take a U-turn towards Tirthan Valley. Once you take that road you need to cover around 3-4 KMs towards Sai Ropa FRH. A village named Deori will come and just 300 Mtrs ahead on the other Side of Tirthan River you can see this place. It’s somewhere around 6 Kms before Gushaini and approximately 1 KM before Sair Ropa FRH as shown in the picture.

Parking:
I must highlight that the River Side Resort has got one of the most beautiful parking, I have ever seen. Parking area is away from the resort and is located at other side of the Tirthan River bank. First you need to drop the luggage and passengers so that they can cross the Tirthan River on a pulley trolley (which is complete safe) to reach the resort. Then, you need to track back till Deori sign board, and take a narrow sub lane (Kachchi Road) towards right. From there you need to drive over a hanging bridge to cross the Tirthan River in order to reach parking a beautiful are. It takes around 5-10 minutes walk in the woods, after parking the Car to reach back to the resort.

ATM:
Nearest ATM is at Banjar, approximately 5 KMs from River Side Resort, Tirthan Valley.
Petrol Pump:
Nearest Petrol Pump is at Larji, approximately 8 KMs from River Side Resort, Tirthan Valley.
Experience:
Rooms in the resort were really comfortable, nice and cozy and the best thing was at such desolate location you are getting such kind of experience. Rooms were spacious enough with attached bathroom having hot water supply but no room heater (at least we didn’t need it
One double-bed room…Small Room…

Two double-bed room…Large Room…

Quality of food /juice was good enough to finish the entire food in the plate as it came
but tea /coffee I would say was just at satisfactory level, at least for us. You can catch your own Trout fish and they can let you cook or even can cook it for you. If you do not catch yours then completely cooked and served trout is priced around Rs 650 per Kg.
Dining Area…It’s flexible to move around…Even near the river
…

An ample garden space was there just in front of the resort with Tirthan River flowing beside. There was arrangement for Volleyball as well as Badminton along with a Carom board in the room itself.Numerous nature trails can be explored around the resort as well or besides the river. Apart from that you can always enjoying around the bonfire in the evening as well.

Well for booze lovers, Liquor shop is just at the start of that hanging bridge which comes while parking the car. You may get some decent brands on that shop. Just few 200 odd Meters ahead at another shop, you can get the cigarettes for yourself as well.
Hospitality we received from the staff was good and Mr. Bhupinder Singh the owner of the resort, seems to be a very knowledgeable person, when it comes to environment. Being a locale he knows many tits-bits of the land and geography there.
As far as sunshade is concerned that I really feel should be the drawback of the place in summers. There is too much open space which in one season could be really nice but in the months of scorching sun it would be difficult to beat the heat easily. Overall there are trees and I believe after few years from now when the smaller trees grow up, the place cannot be easily beaten. However, they also have shades to protect you from sun any day but you know what I meant by above lines
. Being near the river it remains cool most part of the day but heat has its toll at noon in the months of May-June.
There is a mountain in front of the resort which hides the Sun in winters, so this place becomes really, really freezing cold due to lack of sunlight. In winters the Sun’s line of traversal is that ways only.
Well if you are going in September, do check with them twice because as told to us that it rains badly in that region at that time, thereby spoiling the Spirit of the place which is what tourist goes there to experience.
For any medical assistance you will have to approach the Banjar town 7-8 KMs back.

Conclusion:
In the end I must say that these guys have done a remarkable job for getting their act together to build such a place. Very near to civilization yet very near to mother nature, the place has got all that one can ask for a perfect holiday point. Being residing in Delhi and yet managing such property to serve better and even better to tourist at such reasonable rates is commendable in itself. I just hope that as more and more people flood in to Tirthan Valley, the River Side Resort maintains it standards, policies like flexible rules of check-in/ check-out and remain flexible for number of people staying in one room, and the reasonable rates they offer. I really wish that reasonable/decent rates are not the publicity strategies for this newly laid property
So, all you guys there if Raju Bharti doesn’t welcome you (as he often does
) or your budget doesn’t suit other there in Tirthan Valley don’t forget there is always this better bet by the name "River Side Resort"

hi,
i ll be travelling down from leh to manali,i would like to add tirthan valley also to my trip, sud i cum to kullu or is there any other way from manali-tirthan valley.
Hello Ryan,
You have to come to Kullu in anycase I believe to go over Tirthan Valley. There is a road that connects Manali to Naggar and then to Kasol and Manikaran. Even doing that road, you will have to come over to the turn at Kullu only where left will go towards Kasol and straight will get you on the main Delhi Manali Highway. After crossing the tunnel, you need to leave the Delhi – Manali Highway and turn left towards Tirthan Valley.
I hope this helps. Please let me know incase you have any doubt or queries.

[...] are other accommodation options too in Tirthan Valley viz. River side resort, Sai Ropa forest rest house, Himalayan Trout House, Shringi Vatika at Ghiyagi a little away from [...]
Hi.. I had visited this wonderful place 3 years back. Bhuvan was wonderful. I hope and wish the place remains like this only. Any expansion projects: conference halls, dinner halls or more facilities, corporate promotions will rob the place of its pure raw natural charm.
Hey Pankaj.
I completely agree with you on this. The place deserves a stay in its natural form and excellent food. I know nothing beat Raju Bharti Guest House but again this is among my favorite too, however this time we will stay at Raju Bharti Guest House on our trip next year. I must say they are excellent however, despite several emails to Anirudh and his team they never appeared here to update their latest policies or prices or anything else they might think useful for the readers here. I guess not much activity with the online updates or marketing, sad I feel for it.

It was my second visit I was there with my family from 14/8/2011 to 16/8/2011. Though the weather was not so good but we enjoyed the hospitality of Mr. Bhuvan. Service provided by Dhani ram was admirable. I again thankful to Mr Anirudh for accomodating us.
Hey Vijay, thanks for providing us with the latest feedback. I hope the Anirudh and Mr Bhuvan continue to rock at this place ever
River side resort in Tirthan Valley is like a piece of heaven on earth. Resort is sourrunded by river Tirthan which gives pleasant and peaceful feeling and above all homely hospitality shown by Mr. Bhuvan and Mr. Anirudh is exelent. Though I hade a chance to enjoy the heavenly atmosphere for only one day last year on July,2010, as the accomodation was not available due to pre fixed appointments, but I can’t forget that day at there and planning to visit again in a month or so. Mr.Thakur has done this commendable job for the nature and peace loving humans on earth.
Hello Vijay,
Indeed River Side Resort is a great place for stay in Tirthan Valley. I hope the owners keep it running with the same flexible policies and similar prices. As I have mentioned, it is one of those rare hotels which one will like to visit again and again. Do share your next experience with us as well.

Yes Dinesh, it absolulty true and Tirthan Valley is one of the fine places in India to have a long holiday break.break from civilization. The mother nature in Tirthan is just amazing seeing so much flora and fauna….The guys at River Side Resort have done a considerable job in providing a home stay like option. We would certainly like to see/hear some of your travel pictures/stories of Tirthan Valley as well.
Its great to read this amazing article on Riverside resort which is a truly fabulous face. Details of activities in the Tirthan valley are given on the website of Tirthan called http://www.tirthanvalley.com. Tirthan valley has limited carrying capacity and one should always come booking in advance otherwise tents can always be pitched by us in the serene environments of tirthan.
Cheers
