Restoration Kick Off Still Awaits | Leh – Ladakh

Well its being almost 25 days and homes at Saboo Village, Leh – Ladakh still awaits the reconstruction work to kick off. The winters are staring at them and is ready to take the matter even worse. You can imagine in such chill without a home, what may happen to anyone. The misery may not be over yet as labour has hiked their wages to double to reap the benefits from the tragedy . It’s seriously a shame on people governing that the country mulling over CWG failure, spending crores on a stadium just to entertain doesn’t care about how the people in Ladakh will fight over the winters. The questions like “How the problem could be solved?” still remains a mystery to them or shall I say do they even care about it!!!. I am not sure they do care

With each passing day, worries of Leh cloudburst and flashflood victims rendered homeless in the August 6 catastrophe are increasing. Despite the Prime Minister’s announcement to complete reconstruction of houses before winter begins, they still don’t know when and where they will get a house.

Reason: The Leh-Manali highway is still closed nearly one month after the catastrophe. “The work of rehabilitation is hit due to closure of this highway, as this is the most suitable route to get the construction material from the other parts of the country,” said Jigmet Takpa, Chief Relief Coordinator, Leh.
