Manali – Leh Highway to Close on 15 November, 2010

The 474 KM Manali – Leh will close on 15th November, 2010 which was earlier scheduled to be closed on 31st October, 2010. The date has been extended in lie of the request from the state government, which brought smiles to many tribals from Lahaul and Spiti Valley.

The 474-km long Manali-Leh highway, one of the highest motorable roads in the world, will now be closed for all vehicular traffic from November 15.

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) earlier declared on October 6 that the highway would be closed from October 31.

The Commander, 38, BRTF, A.K. Dikshit, said here today that the BRO had received a request from the state government to keep the Manali-Sarchu road open till November 15.

The opening of the Rohtang pass for more days has brought great relief to the people of the Lahaul and Spiti valley.
