Jispa Journeys, Jispa, Himachal Pradesh | Hotel Review

Jispa is one of my favorite place to stay if you are either in Lahaul Valley in Himachal Pradesh or going to Leh – Ladakh via Manali – Leh Highway. I will always prefer an overnight stay at Jispa over Keylong on my Manali – Leh Highway journey as it is much more scenic than Keylong and just 20 odd KMs ahead of it. Moreover, Jispa is located right at the banks of river Bhaga. The only problem with Jispa is the lack of varied accommodation options but I guess with the efforts of “Jispa Journeys”, it is changing a bit. Apart from Hotel Ibex, (usually where Indian are NOT welcomed due to over pricing as well as a tad lousy attitude towards them) there are very few accommodation options available at Jispa and one of them is “Jispa Journeys“ which offers tented accommodation or stay options at Jispa on Manali – Leh Highway.

Currently, these tents offered by Jispa Journeys are proving to be worthy, affordable, comfortable and real value for money option of stay at Jispa on Manali – Leh Highway. I hope it stays the same in years to come :)

Jispa Journeys, Jispa, Himachal Pradesh or Manali – Leh Highway

Here is the complete review of Jispa Journeys Camps at Jispa —

Bookings:

Booking can be done by calling at one of the numbers below –

  • +91-9418660225 or +91-9418954313 (Sherab)
  • +91-1902-254055 (Manali Office)

You can also email them at jispajourneys@gmail.com and can visit the website for more details at : Jispa Journeys. Their office is in Manali and the fixed phone number is of Manali office. Sherab, the owner, itself is a very nice and lovely guy to talk to.

Price:

Price ranges from Rs 400-600 for normal tent and Rs 800-1200 for Swiss tents. The price range, I guess, depends upon the current month of the season (June – Highest, July – High, August – Medium, September – Offseason) and the bargaining power within you which can get the deal :) … The meal is served at the cost of Rs 100 to Rs 150 in buffet system. Sometimes, the price range covers some snacks or some meals or all meals as well. Like, my cousin stayed there last year in August and paid Rs 800 for a Swiss tent including dinner and breakfast.

Location:

These tents are located about less than a KM before the Hotel Ibex on the right hand side while going towards Leh from Manali.

Parking:

There is ample open space to park your car or bike near the camp or tent site.

Phone Facility:

Phone facility is not available and even BSNL mobiles only work depending upon the signal connectivity but BSNL seems best among all. Other mobile carriers like Airtel sometimes work, Vodafone do not work at all. We were carrying all three of them.

ATM:

Nearest ATM is in the Keylong town which is approximately 20 odd KMs from the camps.

Petrol Pump:

Nearest Petrol Pump is at Tandi, about 28 odd KMs before Jispa towards Manali on Manali – Leh Highway.

Medical Assistance:

For any medical assistance you will have to reach the local hospital in Keylong town which is approximately 20 odd KMs from the camps.

Personal Experience:

Although, I have personally not stayed at Jispa Journey as we went pass them on our journey to Leh  but one of my cousin and few friends does have stayed at Jispa Journeys. Here is what they told me:

There are about 20-21 tents available out of which 14 are Swiss tents with attached toilets and 6-7 are normal tents. The tents are nice and comfortable with metal beds having quilts as required usually 4 quilts are given. The tents are spacious and comfortable too. There is a separate toilet tent with basic bath fittings including flush which is shared by normal tents. The food is served in a huge dining tent. The views from the location is also worth considering.

According to my friends and cousin the overall quality of food served is good too.

Attraction In-Around Hotel:

Jispa is generally considered as a night halt or over night stay for the people going to Leh via Manali – Leh Highway. Jispa is situated on the banks of Bhaga river where apart from enjoying the river you have numerous trails in the woods which can be hiked too to explore a bit. I will suggest to keep Jispa as the base over Keylong even if you have come to explore Lahaul Valley.

Conclusion:

Overall, Jispa Journeys is totally recommended and much worthy place of stay at Jispa on Manali – Leh Highway than the over priced Hotel Ibex.
