Fresh Snowfall at Rohtang Pass and Hatu Peak

 

Finally, after a dry spell of weather for last 2 weeks there has been respite for the lovers of snow and snowfall. Yesterday, there was a moderate snowfall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh including Rohtang Pass, Hatu Peak, Lahaul, Spiti, Kinnaur, Bharmaur, Dodra Kwar. The lower hills of Himachal Pradesh recieved rainfall which along with snowfall in higher reaches resulted sudden dip of temparatures in the Northern part of India. The news of snowfall is delight for so many people, majority being honeymooners, who are planning to go to Manali and around to witness snowfall or play in snow. The snowfall also means more business to hotels and tourism industry. However, in the next few days again there will be dry spell of weather as predicted by weathermen.

Shimla, 7 December, 2011 : The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh received light to moderate snowfall Wednesday , while the mid and lower hills experienced rainfall breaking the long dry spell in the hill state .

The higher reaches of Lahaul , Spiti , Kinnaur , Bharmaur , Dodra Kwar were covered under a fresh blanket of snow . The Hatu peak overlooking Narkanda received the season’s first snowfall .

The Rohtang pass and the seven sisters peaks in the Kullu valley received moderate snowfall .

But there was only rain in the popular resort towns of Shimla , Manali , Kufri , Narkanda , Chail , Kasauli among other places .

Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of 5.6 C. The weather man has forecast wet weather at most places of the state until Friday.
