First Snowfall in Kashmir and Ladakh | Winters 2010

 

In another pleasant news for tourists, season’s first snowfall was experienced in tourist spots of Gulmarg and Sonmarg of Kashmir Valley. The other parts of the Kashmir also had their first snowfall of the season including Shopian, Kulgam, Jawahar Tunnel, Qazigund, Kokernag, Pahalgam, Anantnag and Gund while other low lying areas were lashed by the rains.

The 434 KM long Srinagar – Leh Highway was also blocked for several hours yesterday as Zojila Pass separating the Ladakh region from Kashmir experienced close to one feet of snowfall. Soon the highway will be closed for next six months but thanks to the authorities that they have already stocked up Fuel, Food and necessary woolens in Ladakh region Leh – Ladakh Flood | Woolen, Food & Fuel Stockings Complete

In the Ladakh region, the Kargil district experienced the snowfall at Zanskar, Rangdum, Drass, Panikhar and Meenmarg for several hours yesterday.
