The Journey so far-

Day 2 | November 2nd, 2008 | Chail to Kufri to Shimla to Delhi

This day we headed first for the Chail palace but I was not so interested in seeing the same. I wanted to drive and drive and drive. It was the first ever experience of driving so long in hills and I tell you it was just amazing and I felt so much lighter. There was hell lot of positive energy in me as everything was so much peaceful and calm around. It feels pleasure to write about the same, as once more I can feel closer to the same. It was 7.30 AM, we reached Chail Palace although didn’t explored in there. The views from that place —

We had a couple of snapshots but my old age camera spoiled it all, it never switched on back in the entire trip. So, we had to manage with our phone cameras only. Then we started for Kufri, the scenic beauty en-route was extremely mesmerizing and couldn’t be explained in words if you are visiting those hills for the first time…

It was 9:00 AM we reached Kufri, there was an extremely cold breeze blowing over there. So, first things first, we had a hot TEA with Parle-G. Surprisingly, we were among the first tourists to enter that place on the day. As soon as we did so, there were people like eagles haunting us to take a ride on a small brother of horse. We kept neglecting but they were persistent and kept warning us that we won’t be able to reach the sightseeing place and that it’s very steep. But, this was what we both looking forward to. We reached the place for which they even had a ticket  . Frankly, Kufri disappointed me very much as I thought of it something else. I think it was to do with the pre-assumptions and hyped keyword :-)… I think it could have been better if there had been some snow…Nevertheless, we did click some photographs over there.

Then we have to head back to get our tummies filled with breakfast. But, I found a way between the barbwires and we went on the other side to see what’s there in. I found it much beautiful than the previous side. Just have a look yourself…

We went down had a complete breakfast and started for Shimla and decided to have lunch before leaving to Delhi from there… It was 12:30 PM, we reached Shimla. It was too crowded for a hill station I felt and extremely close for a rookie like me to park among such packed stuff of cars. We took the tickets for the lift and went straight up. Here are some of the pictures of the place.

Finally we had South Indian lunch at some South Indian café, it was not so good. We roam around there for 2 hours, did some shopping of crafts and started back around 15.30 for Delhi. Just before entering Kalka we bought ourselves some cartons of Juices to try at home. They were fine in taste and resumed back the journey. Clearing through Kalka was a bit pain as there was a big JAM till Pinjore. We continued the journey till home and decided not to stop for dinner and let our tummies get filled by all the coke, wafers, kurkure we had with us. :-).. Finally it was around 00.30 that we reached home had dinner at my friend’s place went to my home at 01.30 at night. To be the first trip it felt really nice to drive such a long distance starting from Chail to Delhi via Kufri. We had a lot of sightseeing en-route only but most importantly it marked the beginning of my travel on my own wheels. This is where my search of NIRVANA begun…:D

    • Hi Shruthi,

Yes, you can surely go to Chail via Kufri from Shimla. Once you reach Kufri, take a right towards the sigheeing area. The road that leads to that places finally lead to Chail which further continue towards NH-22 and joins it at Kandaghat from where you can return back towards Chandigarh or Delhi.
