Badrinath Closure on 18th November, 2010

 

One of the char dham, Badrinath, would be closed on 18th November, 2010 for the season as decided by the priests on the basis of Hindu Calender. The shrine for Rudranath has already been closed yesterday on the eve of Dussehra festival in the presence of large number of pilgrims.

Earlier, Hemkunt Sahib in the region had already been declared closed for the season on 5th October, 2010 on the inset of winter season in the hills.

The portals of the Central Himalayan Shrine, Badrinath, will be closed for winter on November 18. A meeting of temple priests comprising Rawal Keshav Nambudri and Dharmadikhar Jagadamba Prasad Sati today, on the auspicious festival of Dasehra, decided on the date of closure for Badrinath, one of the four Char Dhams of Uttarakhand. The priests on the basis of the Hindu calendar fixed the date of closure of the shrine on November 18 at 3.55 pm. Meanwhile, the shrine of Rudranath was closed for winter today at around 10 am. Rudranath priest Harish Bhatt conducted the ceremony for the closure. A large number of pilgrims were present on the occasion.
