    Hey team

been looking out for long on social forums and articles on the legality of using aerial drones while riding across Manali – LEH route? Would anyone have any information regarding this? Are there special permits that need to be taken and if so from where and how?

We’re a group travelling from the UAE and is planning a trip in June from Manali To Leh. Intend to use the DJI Phantom 3 drone to cover our trip. Appreciate any advise regarding this.

As per the legal laws, drones are not allowed and no permit is given for it AFAIK. I will tag [tag:fbfvfmde]aashish2137[/tag:fbfvfmde] and [tag:fbfvfmde]madhu[/tag:fbfvfmde] for more specific information

    Hi

As per the circular of DGCA in India that regulates Civil Aviation, you cannot use a drone. There may be a law for drones in the anvil, but that isn’t in place yet. (http://dgca.nic.in/public_notice/PN_UAS.pdf)

Also, what frequency band does your drone operate > Need to check if that frequency band is regulated or unregulated here – if it is regulated, you may not be able to carry it into India legally

Thank you Vinod for sharing. So, legally even those marriage drones are banned?

As noted here, drones are indeed banned in India. However, one can take permissions from “relevant” authorities and fly them. But the process is unclear and rest assured would be riddled with visits from one table to other. The notable actors are DGCA and the police, I think. But I haven’t dug too deep in this and hence can’t say with conviction.
