In the most recent updates from Manali – Leh Highway, BRO is expecting the highway to open by mid of May.

    Read more below:

Manali, April 30 2018: The Border Roads Organisation is struggling hard to restore the traffic movement on the Manali-Leh highway via the Baralacha Pass.
The BRO, entrusted with the task to clear the highway of snow, intends to complete the work in two weeks. The highway was blocked in November due to heavy snowfall.
The restoration of this road will open the door for the people of tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti to run tourism activities in the region for self-employment.
After connecting the 13,050 feet high Rohtang Pass, now the BRO has engaged its workforce and machinery towards the Baralacha Pass.

Manali – Leh Highway Road Status Update:

BRO has cleared snow from Baralacha La pass and has started moving towards Sarchu to clear snow from rest of the Manali – Leh Highway and open it for vehicular movement. Inclement weather continues in the high Himalayas this spring which is delaying the opening of Manali – Leh Highway despite less snow this year. It appears that as Manali – Leh Highway opened last year on 25th May, this year with more snow predicted in coming days and few days of stabilization, Manali – Leh Highway is expected to open somewhere between 15th May to 20th May.

Manali, May 5, 2018: Fighting the spring snowfall, which has been continuing since early April, Border Roads Organization (BRO) that planned to open the Manali-Leh highway for traffic movement by May 5 has now set a target of May 10 despite inclement weather conditions.

After 13,050ft-high Rohtang Pass, the BRO has finally reached 16,050ft-high Baralacha Pass. The depth of snow here is 30-35ft and the area has been receiving fresh snow since Tuesday evening. Despite snowfall, the work is underway with help of snow cutters, dozers and excavators. The officials say they have to clear Baralacha-Sarchu stretch after which the traffic can move to Ladakh.

Manali – Leh Highway Road Status Update:

Manali – Rohtang Pass – Keylong road has been opened for vehicular traffic but tourists are still not allowed to go beyond Marhi to Rohtang Pass. Tourists will only be allowed to go beyond Marhi to Rohtang Pass when enough parking space and toilets are available at Rohtang Pass.

BRO is working to clear the stretch between Sarchu – Baralacha La after which whole of Manali – Leh Highway will be opened too.

But, in any case, a very welcoming news, so let the adventure begins.

    Read more below at:

The BRO threw the Manali-Leh road open to vehicles through the Baralacha Pass on Saturday. The road had been blocked since November after heavy snowfall.
