I posted a calendar entry and forum entry as well for up upcoming trip. Chandigarh – Srinagar – Leh – Manali – Chandigarh, starting 09-July to 22-July. Both are not getting reflected since 18hrs. Should I resubmit them?

      • vinaykreddy23 on

        Hello Dheeraj,

Even I had posted a calendar entry for the month of June 2017. It was approved by moderator and visible also till 3-4 days back. From past 3-4 days I cant see any calendar events except for April month.

Were these entries removed intentionally or is there any glitch in calendar events?

        • Hi Vinay,

There seems to be an issue. The calendar entry is visible to me in the backend but on the front end only current month’s entries are coming up. I am sorry for it, I will try to debug and fix the issue on it. I guess I updated the code for it few days back that might have caused the issue.

        • Hello Vinay,

I wanted to know about the bike charges for 3 bikes. We need bikes only to travel from manali to Leh. Then we are planning to drop bikes at Leh. Is it possible. If yes, then can we get quotations for that?

    • Hi Garima,

PLEASE note Devil On Wheels is a Travel Platform to share information with fellow like minded travellers for FREE. There are some people who do sell tours and run commercial things with same or similar names like ours with few spelling changes. Please BEWARE of such copy cats using our name to disguise fellow travelers, as they use our name or similar name to fool people for their own commercial purpose and in the past we have heard tons of complaints about them from the people who got confused in entities and ended up trips with them.

We at Devil On Wheels Travel Platform offer sufficient information we possibly can from route to maps to hotel details to day by day plans and other advises that one need to make a successful Himalayan trip including Ladakh, Himachal, Uttarakhand or North-East thoroughly. This will save you a lot of money and hassles too which you can use to buy something good for you or to help the ones in need in Himalayas 🙂 🙂

  4. Hi Dheeraj,

Garima here. We are in a group of six and booked tickets for leh laddak trip from 18_27 August 2017. Can you please advise, will it be safe to have a bike trip from manali to Leh during this period. Also from delhi to Manali we are planning to go by car.I am concerned about weather conditions due to monsoon. i would like to know if the plan can be executed in the way it is or is a matter of worry.

    Thanks,
    Garima

    • Hello Garima,

It is monsoon time in general up there in North and at some parts of Manali – Leh Highway (like before Baralacha La) and Srinagar – Leh Highway (like before Kargil) you might need to face monsoon hassles but once you get closer to Ladakh, then Ladakh being rain shadow region is least affected by monsoon rains, though rains does reach Ladakh now but to minimum and mostly it might remains overcast conditions. There is no thumb rule of certainty about weather conditions but above is generally common pictures seen over last few years except ugly 2010 …

Please refer the link in our community: FAQ | Is Monsoon season good time to travel to Ladakh? for more details.

      • Thanks a lot Dheeraj. Your help is really very helpful for all new visitors to such adventurous places. If possible can you share the link or if any idea where we can look into booking plans of four wheeler from Manali to Leh.

Hi Dheeraj, I am planning to visit Renuka Ji for a day trip and also planning for some BBQ enroute Paonta Sahib or Nahah (near river side).

    Hi,
I am from Jalandhar planned Srinagar-Leh-Manali in May’17 & till now solo. Anyone wants to join can contact: 07009592228

    • R P Singh on

I live near Jalandhar. Wish to tour route From Jalandhar-Sonmarg-Leh-Manali-Mandi,Nangal-Jalandhar. I can arrange stay at Patnitop ( Stay for Night there, free-of-cost arrangement). I would prefer non-peak season for the journey. I would like to travel in a group. If going by bike, you can also think about me.

        • I have a query. last year manali-leh highway was open in mid may 2016. Is there any chance that the highway wud be open this year in may?. as i have planned to go to leh via leh-manali highway and wud be leaving on 13 May 2017 on bike from Delhi with one of my friend.

        • Varun, it will depend upon the snowfall that occurs in coming month and especially in the month of Feb and MArch. March is when the snow clearance operations begins, so all depends upon how much snow pours this year. Already there has been lot of snow suddenly and in coming week it is expected very heavy snowfall again.

I will suggest to postpone the trip on Manali – Leh Highway by at least couple of weeks.

    Hi Dheeraj,

Your website is very informative, and a heaven for travelers. I really appreciate your efforts in spreading awareness to people about planning their trips to the Himalayas which, with little information could prove to be very dangerous and expensive.

I’m looking for travel buddies for my trip to Leh during September 8th to 18th by air from Delhi. I’m travelling with my cousin, and we are planning to make the most out of this trip, by exploring as much as we can, tirelessly. I have created a calendar event here, hoping that I might get some responses on it. I request you to suggest a comprehensive itinerary which covers almost all the must-visit places of ladakh in 10 days. Further, request you to suggest what all thing we need to carry, and special precautions that need to be taken care of.

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Regards,
    Shubham

  14. Hello Dheeraj and DOW,

Thanks to start with for your efforts.

I registered for Leh half-marathon that is going to happen on 11th of Sept. However, the people who are supposed to travel with me can’t make it due to their engagements. I am thinking of a solo trip to Leh between Sept 1st and 12th. Can I just go there without booking rooms and get an accommodations at Leh, Pangong etc as I assume it would be crowded due to the run event? If accommodation is not an issue, I can go by shared taxis/public transport to various places there. Please suggest with your thoughts!

    Warm Regards,

    Kiran

  15. Hi Dheeraj,

Regarding situation in valley, we are covering Patnitop to Kargil in a single day on bike on 14th Aug. So is it possible to cross Kasmir considering the curfew situation??

    Thanks

    • Naveen, it is not recommended to travel from Kashmir side. The traffic is not allowed in day time during curfew and only mid night traffic runs. It is not recommended at all.

    Hi Dheeraj
Thnx for d wonderful information u are sharing..I am plng leh trip for a week starting from Delhi in a group of 8/10 people who will be traveling by road in self driven cars but because of Tym constraints I have two options, either take a flight from Delhi to Leh and rest der for one day or take a flight to Srinagar n den travel by road to Leh..as I Ll have to travel alone from Srinagar to Leh and der is no option for prior bus booking and private cab will be too expensive for a single person…please tell me what’s d best way to reach from Delhi to Leh…I have to reach Leh by June 26 to join my friends..
    Thanks
    Dr Deepti Arya

    • Hello Deepti,

If you opt to fly in to Leh, you MUST acclimatize for at least 2 days. You are a doctor yourself, so I should not stress much on acclimatization and AMS to you. In case you wish to travel from Srinagar, you will need at least two days to reach Leh and then one day rest, which means 3 days in total. Buses are available and you can surely try them. Tourist reception center gives the ticket for Srinagar to Leh bus.

How are your friends traveling? Aren’t they going from Srinagar? If not they are going from Manali? You can get overnight volvo to Manali and then join them.

I don’t see any time saving part in these options anyways

      • Dr Deepti Arya on

        Hi Dheeraj

if we plan leh via manali then do we need to take a permit for this route?? if yes then in advance or it can be taken at that time only??

        • Yes, if you go from Manali side, you need permit to cross Rohtang Pass. You can take it once reaching there in Manali from the SDM Office

  32. Hi Dheeraj,

First of all thanks for providing such a good platform to avail information about Ladakh. We (Couple) are planning to reach leh from delhi on 24th June. We ill take direct flight to 24th June to Leh and have booked return flight from srinagar on 2nd July. I need few suggestions from you.

    1) I have learned that a local taxi is required to be hired for site seeing, I have looked at Taxi Hire charges which are quiet on higher side. Can we find travel partners at leh itself, if yes can you suggest how to found same…
    2) Can you suggest a suitable itenary looking into my schedule. I have a return flight on 2nd july morning. I want to visit neubra valley. May i get a share taxi for this visit.
    3) Since, we will be travelling back by road to srinagar. How to book hotel for night stay during transit from leh.

    Would really appreciate your help.

    Thanks,

    Deepak

  33. Hi,
Can anyone tell me how I can book room in Bhimakali temple guest house in Sarahan. I called them, they said it can be booked through money order only. I mean their should be any alternate ways. Please let me know if anyone know

  34. Tarun Chugh on

    Hi Dheeraj,

I have posted my tour on calendar after registering as new user: Touringo

But it is not displayed yet on calendar !!

    Please confirm.

    Many Thanks
    Tarun

    • Had a word with moderator, Tarun. It looked like a organized travel tour and seemed like a company Touringo. It was not moderated because we do not allow tour operators to promote tours on this platform for their commercial benefits.

      • Tarun Chugh on

Oh OK, But it is not an organized tour rather all other tours mentioned here looking for travel partners and cars to tag along !!

        • Tarun Chugh on

Same is the reason i think my comments are also not displayed on some posts…….honestly it is all about finding like minded travel partners and not any commercial reason…..Rest it is up to the moderators to decide!

  35. hi dheeraj,
my qn is when i replied to any comment by someone else, it shows “your comment is awaiting moderation” what does this means? will it be delivered and if the other person replies, do i get notify through email??

    • Yes, it will be delivered to the person if he has subscribed to the comments to receive email. Otherwise, he can see when he comes on the site. All comments are moderated on the site, means approved by us before shown on the site.

      • thank u for ur reply dheeraj, i also wanted to ask u that this will be our first time bike tour to ladakh for almost 14 days… though i am very excited and enthusiastic about the trip and i am also getting physically ready in terms of exercising and taking long rides locally but riding for almost 14 days everyday in those extreme conditions plus fighting with the weather as well ,HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO DO SO?

as dates are inching closer i am getting nervous and tensed too…

        • Sunny, with blessings of Himalayas and grit, determination from within nothing is difficult. I am sure with belief in yourself you will have wonderful journey to Ladakh

      • radharaju45 on

        Dear Mr. Dheeraj,

very useful website. thanks for a nice coordination with members.
We are also looking for partners / single as we are new to this side of India.
please give your advice on the number of days stay at each place..
our schedule is like below –
1 day – Jammu – Dharamshala and stay
2 day – Roam around Dharamshala and proceed towards Manali
2 day – Stay at Manali for 2 nights
4 day – Catching Manali – Leh highway
5 day – Stay en-route Manali – Leh road trip
        6 day – Leh
7 day – Leh and around places
        8 day – Leh
9 day – Leh – Kargil and stay at night
10 day – Around Kargil sightseeing and proceed to Srinagar

        thanks
        radha

        • Your plan looks OK but will personally suggest to go from srinagar side and come back from manali side and spend time there in Ladahk instead of spending time in Manali and dharamshala which is nothing in comparison to the beauty of ladakh and money spent there

        • Thanks Dheeraj ji for a good suggestion. actually our air ticket is upto Leh via Jammu with a day’s stay over there. hence just thought of taking road way from Jammu. but this sounds better as it will become too hectic as we are heart patients. we will spend more days at Leh Ladakh and return from Srinagar.
          kind regards
