Cheating in disguise of Travel Partner
    ————————————————————-
I saw a post in Travel Calendar — “We are 2 girls tentatively planning for 14 to 15 days trip between June to July , 2017. Previously we were 6 people but now 4 people from same family are cancelled their journey for physical problem. Already we booked our full package like rooms and vehicle. So we are open to travel with 4 more people. If more people are interested we can accommodate and share our booked rooms and vehicle. Right now, we booked a Innova for its roadworthy and reliability. We have a ready package for visit only partners need to be filled in. If anyone is interested in our idea of travel to Ladakh , we are open to it. Please write to us.” (oktatabyebye@gmail.com)

We contacted with the girl and went with her . We were a group of 5 persons. But it is a matter of sorrow that the girl was a fraud. Actually, she was only one person and there was no friend with her. She told that she booked all the hotels and took excessive money from us. In each case she sowed fake vouchers or did not produce voucher.

While we asked the hotels, we came to know that we had paid to the girl the double amount than the normal rate of hotels. When we told her about her cheating and demanded for money back, she promptly answered that her money had been stolen in the hotel of Diskit !!! But during the last week of travel she was silent about this “theft”. We knew that she is a liar and habituated cheater.

So I warn so that nobody is further cheated by this girl.

    • It is extremely sorry to read it, you should not have trusted the stranger and should have been cautioned of it. Thanks for sharing here so that other people are warned about it.

  18. I posted my Calander but can’t see it live. Posting here.
    Chd-Kalpa-Kaza-Keylong-Leh and Back (flexible return)

Driving Solo in a Car on the Route for around 15/18 days starting 14th or 15th July 2017. People/Groups already travelling around this time on Car/Bike can join in for partial or complete route as feasible. 1-2 people can join along too. Might be carrying a Bicycle along in the Car too for some Rides en-route. Anyone into cycling can join too and we may check if 2 bikes fit in.

    Tentative:
Day 1 (14th or 15th July) Chd – Rampur Bushahr or little ahead, maybe Sarahan.
Day 2 – Reach Sangla & gaze around.
Day 3 – Sangla – Kalpa and Local
Day 3 – Maybe visit around Kalpa or travel ahead to Tabo
    Day 4, Day 5, Day 6: Kaza,Chitkul, Chandratal etc
Day 7: Kaza – Keylong (or maybe Sarchu if leave very early from Kaza)
Day 8: Reach Leh (Might reach on Day 9 too in case Day 7 is not in Sarchu and at Keylong)
Day 9: Rest Day and Local Permits
Day 10, Day 11, Day 12: Places around (Nubra, Pangong etc) (this might be Day 11,12,13 also and maybe an extra day so Around Leh shall finish in 12-15 Days from start)
Day 13: Return to Chd flexible

Open to Return via Srinagar/Manali and even thinking if Sach Pass might be possible. Route to Sach Pass can be Leh – Keylong – Sach Pass – Killar – Chamba and back, or Srinagar – Anantnag – Kishtwar. Guess I’ll prefer one of the usual Srinagar or Manali only but open to think further.

No bookings yet. Looks like will be staying at Home Stays and Guest Houses. Might book some right before leaving too.

I am at tanvirsingh.ubs@gmail.com – Pl feel free to shoot an email.
    Cheers!

  23. Hi dheeraj need u to develop some scroll like thing where members(normal) can post such news..which can bee shown after moderation…will be usefull

If you’re planning to rent motorcycles from Himachal or Leh-Ladakh and venture into the picturesque landscape of Ladakh, you might want to read this first. The tussle between Bikers Association from Himachal and Leh-Ladakh have caused severe inconvenience to the tourists as many rented motorcycles were reportedly detained and their keys snatched at the Sarchu border.

A circular published by Ladakh Bikers Co-Operative Limited (LBCL) stated that Manali Bikers Association detained 40 motorcycles of LBCL on June 3 and 5, 2017. The circular further added that the members of LBCL have come to a conclusion that no Leh registered bikes will enter Manali and that Sarchu will be the future pick-up and drop point for touring activities in Ladakh for LBCL. Moreover, no HP registered bikes will be allowed to operate commercial activities in Ladakh region.

Meanwhile, the Manali Bikers Association argues that the rented motorcycles from Leh-Ladakh is affecting their business which is causing them a lot of financial losses.

      • Yes Dheeraj just now I have seen I appreciate that and ..have used that section for info several times…but see being a one year user of your site I couldn’t notice this

But I feel …like 60 percent users .be limited to calender events….and all usefull information you have put on site…most people think community forum is for discussion…and any important updates will be available in news/update section

        • Thankk you santosh, I will surely look into it how it can be made more user friendly and put up a Travel News sections easily identifiable

  27. Hello.
I am planning to travel solo to Ladakh. I am leaving Kolkata on 22nd September and will reach Srinagar the same day. With the night stop at Kargil, I plan to explore the less visited areas of Drokpa(1 day) and Suru and Zanskar Valley(will take up 2 days), and then move on to Leh. Naturally, the cab cost isn’t going to be less, so in need of people to share the cab cost.
So, if anyone is willing to join up for the adventure, will be ecstatic to have (a) partner(s).

Hey. I am planning a road trip to Spiti, specifically Kaza with the family 19 June onwards for 10 days, via Shimla and not Manali. Kids are small – 8 and 5 respectively, and this is the first time we’d be off roading in a sense, so some company on the route would be greatly appreciated. Especially after Shimla. I’ll be driving, so another car/taxi to travel together is ideally what I am looking at. Please drop me a note at rajitpalsingh@gmail.com, in case your itinerary matches mine. Thanks!

        • Hey Susheel,

          Very sorry for this inconvenience.

That is very strange, seems some kind of an issue has happened with recent upgrade though I am some how getting the entry of other folks, may be a browser thing.

        • Susheel Malik on

          Brother Dheeraj,

Thank u very much for your concern.

I would like to inform you that i have already posted my topic / Calendar entry under DoW Community Travel Partner forums under title :

          Thanks in advance

        • Susheel Malik on

Thanks lot dheeraj brother. Hope i will get travel partner.

I would also need ur suggestions on the below mentioned stays. As u know i am traveling with my family just let me know which have better stay option for family and which is also better in terms of a good location and views :

          1. Where I should stay in Hunder / Nubra Valley/ Turtuk and which is better.

          2. Do Hanle have any family type accommodations

          3. Where I should stay TSO Moriri / TSO Kar or I can directly stay on any location at Manali Highway which might have better stay option after visiting these Lakes after stay at Hanle.

          4. Where i can stay on Manali Highway, i am also interested in going to Chander Tall so that I reach manali may be by late night.

Awaiting your early reply. Thanks a lot brother u r awesome.

        • Hi Susheel,

          Replies below:

          1. You will not go wrong with any of them. I find Turtuk and Hunder more close to nature. Also, Turtuk you anyways should stay unless you are not planning day trip to it from Hunder
          2. Yes, only Padma Homestay or also known as Sonam Home stay: http://devilonwheels.com/india/ladakh-zanskar-hotels-guest-houses/padma-guest-house-home-stay-hanle-review-t168.html
          3. Tso Moriri lake should be your preference of stay
          4. After Tso Morir, Sarchu makes sense for night sleep else make it to Jispa. I will suggest to cover Chandratal and Spiti sometime later as by the time family might feel low on energy.

        • Susheel Malik on

          Thanks for your reply bro,

          Few more queries:

          1. So should i take a night stay at Turtuk. What is the status of accommodation there for families.

          2. If i will go directly to pangong lake from Turtuk / Hunder I will not be able to Cover Changla Pass & Hemis. So should i go through Leh or any other suggestion.

        • Replies below:

          1. If you have a day in hand, yes, adding night stay in Turtuk will be a better experience of the village and nature around. Yes, there are a couple of good places to stay in Turtuk for families too.
          2. Again, it mainly depends upon the days at hand. If you have time on hand, most enjoyable is to come back to Leh and then next day go to Pangong Tso from Leh. Else, you can come back to Leh from PAngong Tso that will allow you to cover Hemis and Chang La

          Hello Dheeraj Brother,

I have few more queries :

          1. Which is best location to stay at Pangong Lake,

          a. I should stay Spangmik / Man / Merak or any where this Side or

          b. opposite side above locations.

          2. Best way for Hanle,

          a. can i go via Spangmik / Man / Merak / chushul or

          b. I should go via Chilam / Harong / chushul

          3. Is it worth visiting Hanle with family.

          4. Best way to TSO Moriri from Hanle

          a. Via Punguk / Chumur / Ryul Lake / Chilling TSO or

          b. Via Anlay / Mood / Nyoma

          5. Is there anything i am missing which should be visited.

          6. Any above mentioned place which I should avoid going or can skip.

          7. I will be traveling there around 7 June so what will be the expected road status by then.

          8. Do we need any permission to visit any place in Leh or for any above mentioned routes.

          Any suggestions from you.

Thank u very much once again bro.

        • 1. Spangmik has many options while Man village has couple of options only.
          2. Spangmik – Man – Merak – Chusul – Tsaga – Loma – Hanle
          3. For me it is the best place in Ladakh but then for me 🙂
          4. Tso Moriri – Loma – Nyoma – Mahe – Sumdo – Tso Moriri, avoid other desolated route with family.
          5. Try to enjoy whatever you have on plate, it is going to be tiring somewhat already.
          6. NA
          7. Roads should be open.
          8. The environment fees of Rs 400 & Inner Line Permits (most likely as well) will again be required in Ladakh for Indian Tourists / Nationals with effect from April 1st, 2017. This has been recently announced and is available on official website of Leh administration. It is expected that a public circular should follow soon as well. Hence, like it used to happen before 2014, all Indian Nationals or Indian Tourists WILL need to pay environment fees and may need to also get the inner line permits in Leh – Ladakh region in order to visit the restricted places like Dah, Hanu Villages, Pangong Tso, Man, Merak, Tso Moriri, Nyoma, Loma Bend, Khardung La, Nubra Valley, Turtuk, Tyakshi, Digger La, Tangyar (for trekking only).
For details on inner line permits process and to download application form read the link All you want to know about Inner Line Permits for Ladakh. Page 1 is Protected Area Permit applicable for foreigners. Fill in Page 2, 3 for Inner Line Permit applicable for Indians, got to DC office in Leh and submit the application with valid Photo ID nationality proof and pay the required fee of Rs 400 + Rs 20 x number of days you will be in Ladakh.
